Black and White Quilt

This quilt is about a million pounds. The front blocks are string blocks on muslin foundations, and then the back is a sheet, and then three flannel sheets (I collected flannel sheets from thrift stores instead of buying like twelve yards of new flannel just to cut it up it’s fine to use thrifted sheets). I then quilted the quilt on the diagonal 1/2″ apart, and then cut in between the lines. I was too cheap to buy the tool to do this so I used these cheapo letter openers I got. I think the fancy tool would have made it easier but how many of these am I going to make? I practically got a hernia doing this one, so probably not more.

Pattern: String Block, flannel baby blanket situation on the back.

Fabric: you guessed it, SCRAPS! Plus thrift store sheets on the back.

Quilting: Channel quilting 1/2″ apart. This is another one that probably only got finished because of the lockdown.

Binding: I made the binding all thick because someone in my guild was doing thick bindings and I think they look super cool.

Finished size is 52.5″x73″.
