Low Volume Bowties

This quilt is made out of low volume scraps, including low volume scrap triangles. At the time, I was making a project with brighter triangle scraps, and these were piling up. This is one of my favorite quilts. I am particularly fond of the quilting–I used a walking foot and did an extended zigzag stitch, but I quilted every seam on the short way and every other one on the long way, which makes a cool rectangular grid on the back.

Pattern: This is a bowtie block that finishes at 4″ square.

Fabric: Scraps! The back is a thrifted sheet. I highly recommend using thrifted sheets for backing, I do NOT recommend using them for binding, it took FOREVER and I poked my fingers a lot. It does look super cool though.

Finished size is 52″x88″. I made this for my boyfriend and he is kind of tall, so I made it extra long. If you are tall, I recommend doing this, it’s super duper.
